Known affectionately as "Bubba," Gary had a heart as big as the Texas sky and a smile that could light up a room. He had a deep passion for all things Western - from his love of John Wayne movies to his unwavering support for the Dallas Cowboys. His enthusiasm for life extended beyond the screen and the football field, evident in his joy for hunting rattlesnakes, a pastime that showcased his adventurous spirit.
Gary's love for his family was immeasurable. He now reunites with his beloved parents, Van Murrell and Virginia Murrell, who were his guiding lights throughout his life's journey. He also joins his siblings who passed before him: his oldest brother, Marshall Murrell; his older sister, Marie Murrell; and his younger brother, Eddie Murrell. Their memories and the bonds they shared were deeply cherished by Gary throughout his life.
He is survived by his devoted brother, Dwayne Murrell, his loving nephew, Bradley Murrell and his niece Heather Molina and his Great Nephew’s Cayleb Murrell, Connor Murrell, Christian Murrell and David Gomez as well as his Great Niece’s Nayeli Molina and Gabby Gomez. Their bond was a testament to the strength of family ties that Gary held dear throughout his life.
Beyond his hobbies and relationships, Gary was a true character who left an unforgettable impression on everyone he encountered. He was the embodiment of the values of loyalty, friendship, and a willingness to face life's challenges head-on. His memory will continue to live on in the stories and memories shared by all those fortunate enough to have called him a friend, family member, or simply "Bubba."
As we bid farewell to Gary "Bubba" Murrell, let us remember the lessons he taught us about embracing life with open arms, finding joy in the simplest of things, and cherishing the moments we have with those we hold dear. In the words of John Wayne, a man whom Gary admired, "Courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyway."
Rest in heavenly peace, Bubba, and may your spirit continue to inspire us all. Until we meet again on the trails of eternity.
"Happy trails, partner!"
