Ronnie Mac Holsey

Ronnie Mac Holsey was born May 1, 1946, in Hobbs, NM to J.P. and Wanda Holsey of Jal, NM.  He passed away unexpectedly at the age of 77 at his home in Andrews, TX on November 25, 2023.

Ronnie attended Jal Schools for 12 years and after graduating in 1964 he attended Western New Mexico University.  He served in the Navy Seabees as a 2nd Class Petty Officer in Gulfport, MS, Port Hueneme, CA, and Okinawa.  After being discharged he returned to school and received a BS in Mathematics from Western New Mexico University.

On September 4, 1971 Ronnie married Jan Patterson in Jal, NM.  They were married 52 years at the time of his death.  They had one daughter Brandi Holsey and 2 grandchildren Alyssa and Tyler.

Ronnie worked for El Paso Natural Gas Co for 5 years and then started his career with Shell Oil Co. in Hobbs, NM in 1976.  He retired in Andrews in 2006 after working for Shell for 30 years.  After retirement Ronnie and Jan spent part of each year in a motor home in Arizona with their daughter and grandchildren taking them on fun and exciting adventures.

Ronnie is survived by his wife Jan of the home, his daughter Brandi and grandchildren Alyssa and Tyler of Chandler, AZ.  One brother and sister-in-law Billy and Pam Holsey.  One brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mike and Nadine Patterson.  He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Gail Tidwell and his in-laws A.J. and Geneva Patterson.

Ronnie was a good athlete in school participating in all sports, but he excelled at golf.  He continued to play throughout his life, participating in many golf tournaments in the area.  Growing up he and his family spent a lot of time at Red Bluff Lake boating, skiing and fishing.  He always enjoyed spending time in the great outdoors hunting and watching wildlife.  In retirement, he became an exceptional amateur photographer and always had his camera handy.  Researching family genealogy was a favorite pastime, as was keeping up with former classmates and attending school reunions.  Ronnie will be missed by family, friends and anyone who knew him.

Andrews Corgill Funeral Home is handling arrangements.  There will be no public memorial service.

The family welcomes donations to Golden Beginnings Golden Retriever Rescue, P.O. Box 940325, Houston, TX 77094 or a charity of their choice as an expression of sympathy instead of flowers.

The family would like to express our sincere thanks for all the prayers, cards, emails, texts, flowers, donations and kindness extended during the time of our loss.
